Objectives & Activities |
The Cyclone Country Kennel Club (CCKC)
is a local, all breed, club with approximately 60 members.
According to our Constitution, the Club has the following
objectives: |

+ To
further the advancement of all breeds of purebred dogs. |
|
+ To
encourage sportsmanlike competition at dog shows and obedience
trials. |
|
+ To
conduct sanctioned matches, dog shows, and obedience trials under
the rules of the American Kennel Club. |
|
|
In addition to sponsoring a yearly
B-OB show and match, our activities include: |
|
+ Ongoing
instructional classes in obedience and conformation. |
|
+ Monthly
nursing home visits with our dogs. |
|
+
Participation in local community activities such as Summerfest. |
|
|
We publish a monthly newsletter and a
membership roster which are sent to all members. |
Requirements |
Cyclone
Country Kennel Club encourages the active participation of all its
members in the promotion of the objectives and purpose of the club.
This includes, but is not limited to, attendance at monthly
meetings, stewarding at shows and matches, teaching and/or assisting
obedience and conformation classes, serving on committees, and
holding office. |

The
requirements for membership are: |
|

Applicant must be in
good standing with the American Kennel Club. |
|
+
Applicant must be in
agreement with the purpose for which the Club was formed. |
|
+
Applicant must be 18
or more years of age (exception—Junior Membership). |
|
|
Active Member of the CCKC of Ames |
An active
member of the Cyclone Country Kennel Club of Ames is a person who
attends at least two meetings per year, and who completes two
activities in a year from the list below: |

+ Chair a committee |
|
+ Committee member |
|
+ Hold office position |
|
+ Teach classes |
|
+ Assist classes |
|
+ Steward at the Fall
Show |
|
+ Steward at the Fun
Match |
|
+ Fund raising
activity |
|
+ Nursing home visits |
|
+ Public relations
event |
|
|
Or, in the case of a Family
Membership, attendance at four meetings and participation in four
activities per year among family members will qualify the entire
family as active.
Being an active member entitles that
person to take Obedience and Conformation classes at a discounted
rate.
Every paid member, regardless of
“active” status, is allowed one vote, with two votes per family
membership.
Membership requirements will be posted
at the Kennel Club building, and an annual reminder will be placed
in the club newsletter. |

Procedure |
Applications for membership, along with the signatures of two
current Club members in good standing and the appropriate dues must
be filed with the Secretary to be presented for review by the Club
at its next regular meeting.
Applicants are required to attend two meetings after
the formal presentation of their application. On the second evening
of attendance, applicants are asked to attend the board meeting to
discuss their application. The board will then make a
recommendation at the regular meeting, but acceptance or rejection
will be based solely on the vote of the majority of Club members
present at the meeting. |
